Advent Chamber Orchestra News

 

Roxana Pavel Goldstein, Music Director, Founder, and Concert Mistress of the Advent Chamber Orchestra has her hands full these spring days. Not only is she giving four recitals in May, she is also the mother of two young children, ages 2 and 9 months that keep her hopping.  If you have not heard this beautiful young woman play her violin you can look forward to her recitals this month. The amazing Matthew Ganong will accompany her on the piano.  The program will include the 4 Romantic pieces by Dvorak, Sonatas of Bach and Mozart and Handel, and shorter works by Gluck, and Rachmaninov.  You have a huge treat in store, hearing these two wonderful artists.

ELIAS GOLDSTEIN RECEIVES TWO DISTINGUISHED AWARDS

 

The Advent Chamber Orchestra Board is excited to pass along the news that Executive Director Elias Goldstein has been hop scotching the world and winning some very distinguished prizes.

 

Elias has been to

Moscow, Russia

where he Second Prize in the sixth Yuri Bashmet international viola competition.  To date, he is the only American to have won a top prize at this event.   He performed Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante with the Moscow Soloists, and the Walton Viola Concerto with the New Moscow Philharmonic under the direction of Alexander Slatkovsky. 

 

Elias also won one of the top named prizes at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition, which took place in March of 2010, on the Isle of Man in the

British Isles

. The competition attracted over 150 applicants.   He was awarded a silver mounted bow by John Clutterbuck worth 2000 sterling pounds.
