About ACO

ACO History

Advent Chamber Orchestra had its inception in 2003 when its two founding members, Roxana Pavel (now Roxana Pavel Goldstein) and Elias Goldstein, started playing chamber music together in the graduate school of music at DePaul University in Chicago.  They began by performing in string quartets and other small ensembles, and gradually attracted a group of capable performers who shared an affinity for the chamber orchestra repertoire.  The group’s first concert as Advent Chamber Orchestra was in 2005.

ACO Difference

Central to the personality of ACO is the artistically democratic rehearsal process: each member is expected to bring passion and knowledge, without preconceived musical ideas.  A musical interpretation takes shape with collective instinct, allowing each musician to enjoy ownership of the performance.  Though Roxana generally leads the group in concert, the absence of a separate conductor means that the responsibility for a superior performance is on the individual performers. The passionate commitment from every performer is what creates the electric atmosphere at ACO concerts.

Advent Chamber Orchestra is a 501(c)3 public charity.
